Chaturbate is a pornographic website where people practice sexual acts from striptease to masturbation, live via their webcam. Viewers can watch for free but have to pay (with tokens) if they ask for a specific sexual act. While waiting for a payment, the webcam person does his usual stuffs like speaking, dancing, singing and listening to some music.
Chatsong is an indirect collaborative work. I collected different songs played during the webcam shows with a music identifying software. Thanks to information collected and with an algorithm, I composed a personalized song for each webcam performer which they can use for their show. My goal was the idea of a humain recommandation algorithm.
This project is also based on mainstream music today, its diffusion and how it’s impregnated in people’s mind and everyday life. For example trap musicians from Atlanta test their new songs in striptease clubs where managers and producers often come. So Chatsong is the same idea : I test the personalized songs with the webcam per- formers and if they like it, that potentially means that people who are listening to the same songs will like it too.
